Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at Kanchrapara College with affiliation from Kalyani University started its journey in 2008.
The department offers undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology , a multidisciplinary subject amalgamated with various topics
in biological sciences including Genetics, Molecular biology, Recombinant DNA technology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Cell biology, Microbiology,
Immunology, Medical, Industrial, Environmental, Animal and Plant Biotechnology. Students of biotechnology have a wide range of career opportunities
ranging from Research and Development, Manufacturing and Quality Control job, Scientific writing, Regulatory and Intellectual Property Rights Management
etc. The students of this department have already taken positions at various government services, research laboratories and different industries.
The alumni of this department comprises of many M.Sc. and Ph.D. students.

The prime objective is to prepare the graduate students for challenging future careers and enable upward mobility for higher studies and research in the renowned government institute as well as in biotechnology industries. The course curriculum has been designed with a mission to enable the students to think independently, to initiate scientific enquiry and to develop their entrepreneurship skills thereby enhancing their employability.
The Department of Molecular Biology & Biotechnology frequently organizes events such as seminars and special classes by university faculty to upgrade students. The departmental laboratory is equipped with instruments and chemicals to fulfill the requirements of the syllabi and different research work. The Department has its individual library facility for students. This library is filled with requisite text books as well as rare reference books needed as per the prescribed syllabi. The faculty strives to create an academic environment which would provide the students a unique and multidisciplinary learning experience, to foster in young minds the desire to excel as researchers or entrepreneurs. In addition, students are trained to be proficient by providing them a vibrant environment that encourages research and innovations in biotechnology for their universal development.
